Strategic storytelling that connects

I’ve spent over 16 years discovering that regardless of industry, platform, or audience, one truth remains constant: authentic stories drive real results. My journey from CBC newsrooms to global technology marketing has taught me that the most effective communication happens when strategic thinking meets genuine storytelling.

My story

Broadcasting foundations
My career began in Northern Ontario newsrooms, where I learned that compelling stories require more than facts—they need narrative structure, authentic voice, and clear purpose. As a CBC reporter covering everything from breaking news to in-depth documentaries, I developed an understanding of how stories cut through noise and create lasting impact.

Strategic evolution
The transition from journalism to marketing wasn’t planned, but it revealed a crucial insight: businesses need the same storytelling discipline that drives great journalism. Organizations have compelling narratives, but they often struggle to identify and articulate them strategically.

Current leadership
Today, as Director of Brand & Communications at Dejero, a global leader in critical connectivity technology, I lead marketing strategies that position complex technical solutions through clear, compelling narratives. This role combines my passion for storytelling with strategic business communication at an international scale.

What I’ve learned

Every organization has a story worth telling
Whether I’m working with hospitals navigating crisis communication, non-profits building donor engagement, or technology companies explaining complex innovations, the challenge is the same: finding the authentic narrative that resonates with the audiences that matter most.

Cultural identity as professional strength
As a Latina professional who navigated predominantly English-Canadian media and corporate environments, I understand how cultural code-switching affects career development. I’ve learned that authenticity isn’t about choosing between cultural identity and professional success—it’s about integrating both strategically.

Strategic communication is crisis-ready communication
My broadcast journalism background taught me that narratives can shift instantly. The frameworks I develop prepare organizations to maintain their story even when circumstances change, because sustainable communication strategies work in both favourable and challenging conditions.

My approach

Journalism principles meet business strategy
I bring broadcast journalism’s commitment to accuracy, clarity, and audience engagement to strategic business communication. This means every story serves a clear purpose, every message can be verified, and every narrative connects with real audience needs.

Frameworks that scale
Drawing from experience at organizations like CBC, Canadian Hearing Services, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, and Dejero, I’ve developed methodologies that work across industries and adapt to different platforms while maintaining consistency.

Community impact through professional development
Success creates responsibility. Through mentoring programs like the American Marketing Association’s Toronto Mentor Exchange and my upcoming Navigating Narratives initiative, I share strategic frameworks with emerging professionals who deserve access to the insights that drive career advancement.

Because in a world of endless content, authentic stories strategically told are what create lasting impact.
